昨日は結局朝の3時とかに家にやっと戻れた。メンバーをそれぞれ家やホテルに送って、ベースアンプとかを片付けてたらこんな時間に！

今日は早速起きて、朝ごはん！



食べたらAliciaを駅に送って、俺はスタジオにまた向かいます！

ご飯を食べながら、昨日のライブに振り返っている。写真は後で確認しようっと。

Reflecting in last night's performance as I eat breakfast! It was a long day and I finally got home around 3am after driving the band home.

今日は気持ちのいい朝！good morning!

昨日は結構遅くまで今日のライブ準備や歌の打ち合わせをしてたな。なんか途中からAliciaとは今後の活動の話になったり、今までやってきたとんでもないコンサートの話で盛り上がった。

昨日は少しだけ時間があったから、ランニングにも出れたし、今日の体調はかなりいい！





午前は学校で教える日だけど、午後からはライブがある。

ライブ当日なのにクラスは入る事はいくらでもある。みんなやらないといけない事はたくさんあるからね。

でも、おれの場合は好きでやってる事を全部できてると思ってる！生徒達の顔を見たり、話を聞くと沢山の夢とか想いが交差してすごい刺激になってパワーももらえる。

今夜はそういうパワーを俺も沢山発信したいね。楽しみだ！


Today's another awesome day of great weather! Last night I was arranging the vocal parts with Alicia until pretty late. But I feel real good today. Can't wait to do the show today because its a show I've been looking forward to for a very long time!

I actually have to teach in the morning, but hey, we've all got things we've gotta do!

in my case, I love what I do. I get sooo much back from my students. Tonight's a night I give back!

タイヤついに交換か、、、gotta change tires soon

先日は仕事の帰りで、気になっていたバイクショップによったのだ。渋谷の近くにある、モトコルセというカスタムパーツも開発している店です。

Moto Corse is a shop near Shibuya that also develops their own motorcycle parts. It's a really great shop with helpful staff!

このショップでは沢山のバイクも展示してあって、店員もかなり親切に相談にのってくれた。なんか、バイク好きが集まる場所！って感じでさいこうです。





自分の1098は最近残念ながらリアタイヤに釘が刺さってて、応急処置としてパンク修理をしたのだけど、、、もうタイヤの寿命も残念ながら到達したかも。

Unfortunately I dropped by after work this time to consult about getting a new set of tires for my 1098. I've done a puncture repair on the tires but their past their wear limit anyway so I'm hoping to put new ones on later this week!

昨日のリハーサルで今回のライブの特別メンバーが全員そろって楽しかったなぁ！

Introducing our band for tomorrow's special show at the Motion Blue in Yokohama!

サックスの Yu Akiyoshi! 彼は昔バンドをサポートしたきっかけで仲のいいドラマーに紹介してもらった最高のミュージシャン。先生に加え、よくアレンジの仕事もしています。実はBostonの音大卒というのもあって、英語ではなせる貴重な俺の仲間です！

Yu Akiyoshi on Sax is a great friend of mine! One of the fortunate friends I can speak English to since he studied music in Boston as a music student. He currently teaches and arranges music in Japan.

この写真で手前に写っているのは今回のゲストシンガーAlicia Saldenha! 明日のライブでは彼女の新アルバムからの曲も披露しますよ！今年はツアーを一緒にどんな所をいけるのだろうか。
This here's Alicia, from Trinidad Tobago. She's visiting for our show from Osaka. I hope to tour with her this year. She's a very talented singer and great person. I look forward to introducing you to her!

この写真で左置くに座っているのが さいとうりょうじ！彼のセンスは大好きで、友達としてもすごい昔から仲良くしてくれていたミュージシャン。藤沢のでLo-Fiのアコースティックライブ以来一緒に参加していて、次のアルバムは是非一緒に作ろうと話もしている！

On the left in the back of this photo is my good buddy Ryoji Saito. A wicked guitarist and musician with a style like no other. I love his groove and sound. He'll be rocking our second set tomorrow. This year he'll be working on our next album together!

この写真で俺と向き合って写っているのが俺の日本での音楽活動が本格的にスタートした時から熱心にサポートしてくれている大先輩のAOさん。数えきれない程の楽しい時間や辛い時期も応援してくれたり、時には叱ってくれて育ててくれた先輩。お互いアウトドアとバイク大好き、音楽大好き人間で明日のライブではギターとシンセ／サンプラーを担当します！

Here's a shot of my mentor Ao and me facing each other. Through both the best of times and the hardest, he's always been there to help guide me and at times scold me when needed. We both love motorcycles and the outdoors! Tomorrow he'll be manning the guitars and synthesizer/samplers!

やっと喉の感じが普通に近づいてきた。もうライブが明日だから、回復をしっかりしないとね。

今日は久しぶりにオムレツを作ってみた。やっぱり朝は食べないと一日力出ない！

Haven't made an omelette in a while... My throat is finally recovering so I gotta make sure I eat a good breakfast to start the day off. Tomorrow is my big show in Yokohama! This time we're filming the concert so I'm really psyched about the show!

午後からのレッスンはどうなるかな。今日はどんな話をして、何を共感できるかな。生徒達の夢が実現しますように。

Looking forward to an afternoon of teaching! I wonder what we'll be talking about today. I hope I can help be a catalyst for my students dreams and aspirations!

リハーサル終了！

ずいぶん遅くなったけど、やっとリハーサルも終了！楽しいね、こんなメンバーでライブができると思うと。

今回のメンバーは 5, Nori, YoshのいつものLo-FiのメンバーとAo、Yu Akiyoshi, Ryoji Saito の特別なメンバーを迎えてのライブです。

のどの状態も歌える感じにはなってきたけど、やっぱり沢山歌うとすぐのどがかゆくなる！頑張って完治したいね。

Aliciaは大阪から飛行機で到着した直後だから、若干つかれてそうで、Ryojiはアメリカから帰ってきたばかりで時差ぼけ、、、皆、お疲れ！

今日はまた朝からクリニック！Dropping by the doctors office again...

今日はまた喉の状態をみてもらうためにクリニックに寄ってる。ライブまであと二日。なんか、早く治ることを祈るばかりだけど、喉がまだかゆい感じで高い領域で歌うのがかすれてしまうな。

このクリニックはかなりたくさんの便利情報をこの掲示板で発信してていがいと読んでると面白い。

昔歌の先生に言われたことはあるけど、声が出ない時にささやき声で話すのが喉が乾きやすいから良くないと、、、なるほど。と思ったり。




セットリストを見直しながら、ソロのイメージとかが頭をめぐる。

久しぶりにブレッドワークス！

今日は朝から贅沢に久しぶりのブレッドワークス。体調も良くなってきて、喉も少し楽になったかな、、？

今日は気持ちいい。

Great weather today! Been a while since I hit Breadworks in Tennoz for breakfast! Feeling better and my voice is recovering



今日はシナモンロール！もちろん俺が食べ慣れてるアメリカの甘過ぎるのではなく程よい甘さのやつ。日本は最高だな、どこで何食べても美味い。

Enjoying a cinnamon roll... not the super sweet craziness of cinnamon rolls back at home but the Japanese ones are just right! (although to be honest I miss it sometimes...)




今回は始めて本格的に声が出なくなって、いつもいつも歌ってたことに気づいた！俺は歌が好きなんだなぁ、、、と。

早く回復して歌いたい。

This is my first time losing my voice completely... reminded me of how much I enjoy singing. it keeps me from going insane in such a painful but beautiful world...! can't wait to get my voice back!

今日はスタートが本当に疲れたが、リハスタジオについたらLo-Fiのメンバーの顔をみてたくさん元気をもらえた。

Today started off a bad day.. it started literally in the bathroom fighting dehydration, but I won't go into details.. not something you wanna think about before bed time!

やっぱり仲間と一緒に作品を作れるのはかなり幸せ。本当に音楽を通じて人の力になれるのも嬉しいし、自分が常に自分の能力や感性と向き合って作品を作ったりスキルを磨かないと行けないから、精神も強くなるとおもう。このような熱い思いを皆もてたらなぁーっておもう！

But everything felt much better after I finally hauled myself to the rehearsal studio (75minutes late) and I met up with the band. I feel privileged to have a job where I can interact with other musicians like the members of Lo-Fi. it's amazing to be able to create something that inspires someone to do something too.

As we were leaving rehearsal today I just noticed how much stuff I keep in my car! All music gears for touring and local performances! Always on my motorcycle when I'm not doing music or teaching so,


久しぶりに今日は綺麗な空をゆっくり味わいながら走れたかな。なんか、ツーリングは景色楽しめるけど、レッスンの移動だと、俺は道路のコンクリートしかみてないからな、、、汗

it's rare to look up at views like this... when I'm on my bike I'm usually just enjoying the asphalt!

なんとしてもリハーサルにいかないと行けないのに。トイレから出れない。いやー今回飲んだ薬は強過ぎたか、、、、？！

Maybe the meds I took were just too strong

なんとか、辿り着かねば。

おはよう！ たまにある面白い発見。 Good morning!

たまにレッスンやリハーサルライブで出歩いていると色々と面白いものを発見する。よく写真をとるけど、あんまり人に見せた事は無いな。今日は朝の準備をしながら珍しくLotusのカラーのデザインのバイクを発見。知っているバイクが偏っているせいか、これはなんだ？と思った。
Just came upon this interesting bike yesterday on the way back from teaching another lesson in Tokyo.
It says Lotus on the back but have no idea what or when this bike is from. I guess that's due to my limited knowledge of motorcycle makes....!

色のデザインはかっこいいよね。古いデザインのバイクにはあこがれる！
Dig the cool retro designs always....!

リハ終わり、今からは明日の順日

今日はLo-Fiじゃないロックバンドのリハで爆音しました。

いやー、たまにこういう感じのリハーサルに入るのは本当に良い刺激になるし、また別なアプローチの勉強にもなる。

On my way back from a rehearsal with a rock band I'm helping out. Really good inspiration, considering a lot of the work I do is based in funk R&B blues and jazz... Anyway, playing LOUD sometimes is good fun!

今は駅のホームで電車待ちしながら、今日のリハに振り返る。

I'm typing away while reflecting on today's rehearsal.

ライブ映像だよ！ This is a live jam from Lo-Fi!

このライブは本当にいいジャムができたなぁ、、、沢山の人に応援されているから、辛い時のなんとか頑張れる。インストの曲だから、歌が無くて本当にアートよりのパフォーマンスだけど、これもお客さまからの反応が沢山あってすごく嬉しかった曲です。

I think this performance was a memorable one from Lo-Fi in 2012.... It's really great to have people behind us on songs like this where it's all instrumental. The popular music scene is filled with singing... so it requires a tiny bit of guts to keep doing this song live. It's got a good feel though, so I know we'll keep doing this song live!

辛いけど頑張らないと。Tough time right now but gotta work through this!

昨日はこんなマスクつけて寝てみました。。。ぬれマスクで加湿、するらしい、、？
実は歌い過ぎでのどがつぶれている状況で風邪もひいてしまった。。。。\
Have you ever seen this before? This is a mask with a sponge-like substance inside the mask to help spread moisture into the throat when you breath through it. Not sure if it's really working though.

なんとか今月末のライブに向けて準備を一所懸命しているけど、体調を崩してしまうとどうにもならない。応援してくれている人も沢山いるから、体調管理も仕事の一環だし出来る事はやらねば。
I can't believe I caught a cold at the same time I killed my voice from singing too much. I've really gotta get back in shape before the show at the end of this month. The rehearsals without being 100% is really tough on the spirit too. But this is what I signed up for! Wish me luck

クリニックに到着。at the doctors office

喉を見てもらうために医者に来た。待合室で、いまは待機してるけど、今日ももちろんバイクで移動。天気は最高だけど、今日は風が凄くて、信号待ちが意外と怖いかも。

Here at the doctor's office right now! Gotta get my throat looked at cause the pain is killin me...
I came on my 1098 today. My favorite sport bike... nice sunny day, but too bad it's so windy! I was almost blown over waiting at a stoplight


これが最近ちょっと出かける時に愛用している小さいカバン。大好きなブランドのDaineseがNAVAとコラボでだしている。

ipadも入る大きさはあるけど、斜め掛けが出来てバイクに乗ってても便利。しかし、ストラップがツルツルしているから、何気に急ブレーキでは前にくるッと回るから不便な時も、、、、

This here's a shot of my favorite bag for short rides around the neighborhood. It's big enough for an iPad but still really compact. One problem I have with the bag is that when you go into corners sometimes the braking g-force swings the bag around to the front of your body, because the strap for the bag is made of a slippery slick textile. Well maybe I should just ride a bit slower... but hey what's the fun of doing that right?

ここはどこだ！？スタジオ！？ This has got to be one of the cleanest studios in Tokyo...!

昨日の機材を取りに行ったショップはスタジオも経営していて、そのスタジオのロビーで待たせてもらったけど、、、なんて綺麗なロビーなんだろう。

Now this is definitely the most beautiful lobby for a rehearsal studio I've ever been in! Was picking up my gear yesterday and had to share this photo I took. Not like the studios that Lo-Fi is used to rehearsing in for better or for worse!

なんか、普段通い慣れているスタジオとは大違いでビックリ！凄くスムーズジャズを演奏しちゃいそうな雰囲気で、なんかよくわからないけど、ここでLo-Fiとリハしてみたくなった。

なんと、トイレがかなり綺麗で、

スタジオとかライブハウスもこういう傾向にあるところの方が人は集まるのかもね、、、って思った。

Now the bathroom is another room where this studio shines... really hygienic feel to the design! I can't say it's practical considering my understanding of musicians needs, but maybe it's this kind of studio that's going to draw more customers in this day and age.....

今日はエフェクターを取りに、、、 Off to pick up my now repaired vocal effects

今日はミーティングの帰りに壊れていたヴォーカルエフェクターを直接ピックアップした。

went to pick up my busted TC Helicon effects today

バイクだとやっぱり、住所を調べながら行くと途中で停めないと地図がちゃんと見えないのが少し不便だよね、、、

one thing about bikes is that you gotta get off them to check the map unless you got a GPS holder on your bars. Not on mine....

しかし、この後はなんとか無事修理する店を発見して、早速バイクに積載！

自分がすごく便利で愛用しているKriegaのタンクバッグ用の取り付け。

Was able to find the store that repaired my effects with no problems after checking the map though.

Now to load this gear onto the bike. This here's a photo of my preferred tank bag!

これは樹脂製のタンクカバーが着いているバイクでも使えて非常に便利。

KriegaのUS20を普段使っているが、後ろに大きな機材やヘルメットを積むときも便利。

Kreiga makes really great stuff. I use their gear everyday. (Surprising that I really am on the bike every single day....!)

The US20 is sitting on my seat but this is how I attached the vocal effects to the tail of my bike. These elastic nets are always handy.

タンクにまだ取り付けてないけど、こんな感じで後ろの荷物は載せた：

US20が自分のシートの上に置いてあるけど。

いったん機材を置いて、またレッスンを教えに向かいます。。。。！

Now to head back so I can get ready for my next lesson!
